Too Far Gone

During September 2009 I did an internship at Current TV (Virgin Channel 155 and Sky Channel 13) - I did all sorts but they asked me if I could make a little clip to do with their upcoming feature 'Wasted Britain' on their show 'Brand Spanking New', since they knew that I had done animation/film and could use Final Cut Pro.

I have no idea about the song, it's from a free song section that Current have access to so that I could use sound that was allowed on TV.

I used a little flip cam to record the footage and then a tripod-less camera to take the stills. Not the best equipped but they still put it on TV despite the not-the-best quality! I think it sort of works with the theme anyway.

I was on TV also but luckily I have no evidence of that ;)

Hello Again

I had a bit of a time out from blogger.com because I got annoyed with the slow and unreliable video posting capabilities which seemed much easier on tumblr. But this does indeed seem more like a blog, so I have come crawling back, (after trying to use wordpress, and failing. I would rather not pay to upload a video thank you very much). So hello once again blogger.

New term, new start, new lease of blog life...

Also new life challenge as I have decided to try being vegetarian. I don't really like meat and the texture of most of it makes me want to vomit. I pretty much always choose the vegetarian option when I go to a restaurant so I figured I would see how it goes and see if I can control my drunk fried chicken urges.

I will try my best to update you Blogger! For now I am going to post a few things that I want to bring over from tumblr...

PICTOVISUAL - Private View Photos

I thought I would put up some photos from the Private View we held. Myself and a couple of friends organised it and we had 26 artist's work. It was a very stressful and emotional time but it was the best feeling ever once it was all done and the Private View opened! Definitely worth it and I think I handled the stress and drama pretty well. One of the best experiences. We had alcohol sponsorship which was also fun...

It was such a help that our little curation team were so amazing and we worked so well together. Definitely would work with these girls on another project. Special thanks to Gabi and Kat, sticking out the cold every day, you're the best!

Depths of the Ocean

I love drawing hair and decided to try and tackle it in a different way, starting with facial hair. Since I am usually quite straightforward, I thought I would experiment with lots of mark making of hair and some of these included charcoal rubbings. I started looking at the rubbings I had made and some looked very skeleton-like. Going in this direction I started to experiment with charcoal rubbings with things purposefully to look skeleton like. I played around with the photocopier, inverting, etc, they looked like x-rays - in- keeping with the skeleton aesthetic. At some point in my experimenting they started looking like sea creatures so I decided to make it into that, and my final series is showing the process of how I got from hair to sea creatures using acetone rubbings of my experiments.

PICTOVISUAL

Myself and Kirsten McNee combined our illustrations for this flyer design which was then screen printed and stuck up for advertisement for our exhibition - PICTOVISUAL.

In January 2009, myself and a few people from my class organised an exhibition involving a group of young creatives who came together to show their work in film, animation and illustration. It was held at Ada Street Gallery in Bethnal Green.

All the pieces stemmed from the same initial starting points which were then taken in any direction that striked their fancy.

My animation 'Die Haar' was exhibited along with a series of images I created that I will post shortly.

Die Haar

Die Haar is a hand drawn animation using black fineliner, the brief was 'Everyone you've ever met'. Theres not much to explain really you can see for yourelf it is different people's hair styles morphing into one another. This is going to be an on going project that I will continue to add to when I have time, but with 17 hours continuous drawing and all you get is 3 seconds it is quite time consuming!
